Obituary

Beloved wife of Tom Miller and mother of Jacqueline and Donald and grandmother of Aiden and Liam, “Delara” was known by all as a kind and accomplished woman. She was born in Russia and left with her family from St. Petersburg at an early age in a nighttime escape across borders-eventually settling in Tehran, Iran. She grew up in Iran and worked as a secretary to the Prince of Iran. He made arrangements and financed her immigration to the U. S. She graduated from Hunter College in New York and spoke several languages. She met the love of her life, Tom, in NY on Easter Day. They were in their mid-twenties and dated for three years before they married in 1956 and lived in South Hampton before relocating in Gwynedd, Pennsylvania. They assisted in the immigration of Laurica’s family (Mom, Dad, two sisters and a brother) to the U.S. over several years. She sang “God Bless America” every morning. They retired to Hilton Head Island and together enjoyed the beauty of nature, beaches and mountains. They were members of All Saints Episcopal Church. She died peacefully in her sleep, holding Tom’s hand, on November 27, 2017.
