Nancy Dorsett Treadaway, 76, died on October 28, 2017, in Hilton Head, SC, where she had lived since 1969. She was the daughter of the late Clyde P. Dorsett and the late Nancy G. Dorsett of Hilton Head. She graduated from Lafayette High School in Lafayette, Louisiana, and attended Louisiana State University. She was predeceased by her husband of 25 years, J. Patrick Treadway.
She opened one of the first ladies apparel boutiques at Hilton Head in the early 1970’s which was called the Strawberry Patch and located off Pope Avenue. Later, she continued her professional life along with her husband as manufacturers’ representatives for apparel and ski-related companies. In the early 1990’s she and her husband also became commercial property owners in Bluffton, South Carolina. A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by her two sons, Kennon G. Smith and his wife, Connie Boswell Smith of Hilton Head; and Edward D. Smith and his wife, Nicole Shields Smith of Bluffton; and three grandchildren, Leighton Gray Smith and David Tipton Smith, both of Hilton Head, and Shields Dorsett Smith of Bluffton. She is also survived by her brother, C. Powers Dorsett, of Brooksville, Florida. The family will have a celebration of her life at her home at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 5. Memorials may be made to Palmetto Animal League, 56 Riverwalk Blvd., Okatie, SC 29936 (palmettoanimalleague.org) or to the charity of your choice.

Nelson and I are so sorry for your loss. Your mother was such a lovely lady. We had the privilege of meeting Nancy through our daughter, Mary Margaret. We know Mary Margaret was very fond of your mother. We will pray for her and your family.
