Philip Paul Arbolino passed away on Sunday, October 8, while vacationing in Frisco, North Carolina.
He was born on November 30, 1952, in New York City, the first child of Frank and Barbara Arbolino. He was a proud graduate of Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he earned a BBA in 1974, as well as the University of North Texas, where he received an MBA in 1981.
Phil had a long and distinguished career in insurance, banking and investment management, culminating in his own business, Arbolino Asset Management, where he managed retirement planning and investment management for a select group of clients for more than 10 years.
After living in East Dorset, Vermont for 20 years, Phil and his wife Angela and their golden retriever Gracie moved to Bluffton in 2016 and fell in love with their new home and community.
Phil was an avid golfer and a die-hard Yankees fan, as well as a man who believed in pursuing his goals vigorously. For his 50th birthday, he attended Yankees Fantasy Camp, where he got a hit off Doc Gooden. In 2014 Angela accompanied him on a trip to Scotland, where he carded an 86 on St. Andrew’s Old Course, not to mention birdieing the last hole.
Phil is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Angela; his son, Nicholas Philip of Sarasota, Florida; his brother, Andrew and his wife Antonita and their children, Kristofer and Matthew, of Leaskdale, Ontario; his aunt, Olga van Santvoort, and cousin Nigel van Santvoort, both of Port Perry, Ontario, and by his uncle, John Arbolino, and cousin, Mary Ribaudo and her family, of Lititz, Pennsylvania.
A service will be held at Sauls Funeral Home in Bluffton, South Carolina at 10:30 on Monday, October 16.
Instead of flowers, the family requests donations to the Sarasota Florida Orchestra (www.sarasotaorchestra.org), where Phil’s son Nick plays the oboe and English horn, a source of enormous pride to his dad.
