Robert was born to George and Frances (Erbe) Sippel and was raised in Hazleton, PA.
A lifelong patriot, he served in the United States Air Force where he earned the rank of Staff Sergeant. His favorite duty station was Guam. After serving his country he entered the engineering/surveying field eventually becoming President and CEO of his own companies in NJ and FL. Bob had a great love of aviation and was a skilled pilot who held several advanced ratings. Bob made several cross country trips in his trusty Piper Cherokee. He also enjoyed boating and spent many hours on the water with family and friends. Always concerned for his community, he spent years as a Rotarian where he was president of his club and a Paul Harris Fellow. Since his retirement Bob participated in many hobbies to include chess (which he loved to teach to his grandchildren), tennis, pickle ball, bocce, and traveling. He will be remembered by those who knew him as a mentor and source of guidance and quiet strength.
He is survived by his beloved wife, copilot, and nurse of 41 years, Phyllis. He and Phyllis met while on separate vacations to Switzerland. He is also survived by his brother George (Carole), daughter Tracey (Peter) Roberts and step children Jay Clancy (Lisa), Matt Clancy (Lisa), and Julia Clancy. He had four grandchildren Tyler Clancy, Jessie Jayne Clancy, Connor Clancy and Kadeem Ruffin who knew him by his favorite name, “Grampy”, as well as nieces and nephews who he loved as well.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 30th at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 351 Buckwalter Parkway, Bluffton, SC 29910. Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m., Monday at Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, SC.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests you remember CAPA (Child Abuse Prevention Association) or “Staying Connected” (Sun City).

We are so very saddened by this news. Bob was full of life and love for his soulmate and wife, Phyllis. We flew with him once and he was a competent pilot, and loving friend. His smile reflected his warm and loving heart. We send our prayers to the family
And especially Phyllis, love is everlasting, dear friend.
