Juhan Doyle Pinholster

Juhan Doyle Pinholster, 80, celebrated his welcome into heaven on March 15, 2018 after a valiant battle with cancer. His devotion to his family was beyond compare, and his steadfast belief in Jesus supported him throughout his lifetime and his illness.
J. Doyle was born to the late James and Luelle Pinholster in Pavo, GA on December 3, 1937. His parents owned and operated Pinholster’s Book and Gift Shoppe in Dublin, GA. Doyle spent most of his childhood years in Douglas, GA, where he met the love of his life in the 8th grade, Phyllis Faircloth Pinholster. He attended Mercer University and started a financial career at Household Finance. After 8 years of service, he moved his family from Holliston, MA to Columbia, SC. He began his banking career at First Citizens bank in 1973, and retired as an Executive Vice President in 1998. He was always involved in the Baptist Church and gave many years of service to the Sertoma Club.
Doyle married Phyllis in Douglas on September 8, 1957. He was blessed with a large family and helped raise their three children with patience, discipline and most of all, unquestionable and unfailing love. He enjoyed many years with his family living on Lake Murray teaching them how to fish and waterski. Many family vacations were spent camping along the Blue Ridge Parkway or along beautiful beaches up and down the east coast. From the very beginning, he dedicated his children to God and was their biggest fan. He was adored by everyone he met and was known for his great singing voice and ability to play the piano.
He is dearly missed by his loved ones, but we are also celebrating, as he is now walking with his mother, father, and brother, Jerry, in heaven.
Doyle is survived by his wife of 60 years, his sons Stephen and Stuart (Wendy), daughter Terri Davis, his grandchildren Michael Pinholster (Amanda), Melanie Williams (Chad), Melissa Bradley (Trey), Meleah Tate (Dustin), and Marlena Olson; and great grandchildren Donald, Davis and Emma Stubbs; Jaxson, Paitlyn and Judah Bradley; Makynzie, Skyla, and Noah Tate.
Services for Doyle will be at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC on Saturday, March 17. A visitation will commence at 1:00 pm, with a service directly thereafter beginning at 1:30. There will be a family graveside burial at Six Oaks Cemetery in Sea Pines, Hilton Head, SC. The family kindly requests that any memoriams be given in his name to BethanyKids - www.bethanykids.org
