Bernard F. Drake, age 81, of Bluffton and formerly of Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey died Thursday, March 8, 2018.
Bernard was born on March 31, 1936 in Newark, NJ, the son of the late Bernard and Estelle Dranikowski. After proudly serving in the United States Marine Corps, he worked as a draftsman and engineer with Becton, Dickinson and Company and later with Melnor Industries. He also served his community for many years as a volunteer firefighter in Wood-Ridge, NJ. He was a member of the Hasbrouck Heights Men’s Club, the Bluffton Men’s Club, and the Carolina Dreamers Car Club.
Bernard will be remembered by his family and all who knew him as an adoring and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Lyn Drake; son, Douglas Drake (Susan); daughter, Donna Dranikowski (Rick Vivona); sister, Valerie Whitten (Gilbert); grandsons, Jonathan and Stephen Drake; and step-grandson, Michael Street. Sadly, Bernard’s sister, Joanna Neuhaeuser (Rudi), passed away three days following his death.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 13, 2018 at St. Andrew Chapel, 220 Pinckney Colony Road, Bluffton, SC 29909.

So sorry to hear of Bernie's passing, I have many fond memories of the time spent as part of the "greater" Dranikowski/Podgorski family. Thinking of you at this sad time, Lyn.
