Reda Lillian Slotnick



Reda Slotnick passed away peacefully on February 2, 2018 at Coastal Carolina Hospital. She lived a long life of 98 years, being born on April 27, 1919. She graduated from Irwin High School in 1936 where she played on the girl’s basketball team. Reda is predeceased by her husband Barney Slotnick, her brother, Art Dobkin, and her parents, Morris and Sophie Dobkin. Most of her life was spent in Irwin , Pennsylvania, then she later shared her time living with two of her three children, Ron (Sandi) Slotnick, and daughter, Judy Shinoski in Sun City Hilton Head, Bluffton, South Carolina. Her other son, Steve (Barbara) Slotnick, lived next door in Sun City. Reda enjoyed playing bridge, scrabble, reading, and watching her favorite teams, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Pirates, until her poor eyesight and hearing robbed her of her pleasures. She was blessed with 7 grandchildren, Jarrett Shinoski, Brandon (Kayla) Shinoski, Stacie Slotnick, Stuart (Diana) Slotnick, Tom (Paul) Slotnick, Rebecca (Thomas) Dajenais,and Brian (Maureen) Slotnick and eleven great-grandchildren, and two nieces. Much appreciation goes out to the passionate staff of Ridgeland Nursing Center who provided her special care. A Celebration of Life will be held at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC on March 3, 2018 at 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association in her name.
