Steven Donald Miller

Steven Donald Miller, husband of Laura Miller, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at the age of 58.

Steve is survived by his wife, Laura; his daughter, Lindsey Miller (Justin Wise), grandchildren Ava and Elijah Wise of Ironton, Ohio; stepsons Robert (Kelsey Brown), Nicholas and Matthew Herrick and grandson Emerson Herrick of Toledo, Ohio; sister Cindi Miller Lehrbass (Roger) of Custer, Michigan; and sister Jill Miller Roach (Jeff) of Kitts Hill, Ohio. Steve is predeceased in death by his parents, Jerry and Linda Miller, and sister Samantha Jo Miller Hays.

Steve was born in Ironton, Ohio on August 30, 1959 to Jerry and Linda Miller of Pedro, Ohio. Following his graduation from high school Steve enlisted in the United States Air Force. It was in the USAF he discovered his love of airplanes and spent his entire professional career working on and inspecting airplanes, most recently as a senior airworthiness inspector for Gulfstream Aerospace.

Steve married the love of his life, Laura, on November 18, 2000. Together they built a beautiful home in Bluffton, SC where their friends and family loved to gather for cookouts and backyard bonfires.

Steve’s great love for his daughter, Lindsey, and grandchildren, Ava and Elijah, was evident to all who knew him. He and Laura traveled to Ironton, Ohio whenever possible to spend time with them. On his most recent trip to Ironton over the Christmas holiday he was able to meet and hold his newborn grandson, Elijah Wise, for the first time.

Steve had the honor of joining Laura in raising her three sons, Robert, Nicholas and Matthew, whom he loved as his own. He was also able to meet and hold Robert’s firstborn son, Emerson Herrick, over the Christmas holiday.

In his free time Steve enjoyed working in his garage on several projects. In particular he enjoyed restoring old motorcycles such as the Honda 100, which was his favorite childhood cycle. He also enjoyed taking Laura out for a spin up the coast in his Mustang Shelby Cobra GT.

Steve will be dearly missed by his family and friends, and most of all by his wife, Laura, and daughter, Lindsey. The family will receive guests on Saturday, February 3 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC from 1:00 to 4:00 pm with a ceremony immediately following.
