Vincent P. Ruede



Vincent P. Ruede, age 83, of Bluffton, SC and Saratoga, NY died Friday, October 27, 2017 surrounded by family at Coastal Carolina Medical Center.

Mr. Ruede was born on January 12, 1934 in Albany, NY, the son of the late Paul Peter Ruede and Katherine Mahar Ruede. He was a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of the Presidential Honor Guard in Washington, DC. He began his career as a sales representative with Exxon Oil Company. He then started his career as a real estate broker and construction manager with Keycorp, a financial holding company that oversaw site and architect selections. He retired from Keycorp after 32 years of service as Vice President. Civically, he served as a Plat Representative, Chairman of the Sun City Covenants Committee, was a volunteer with the Bluffton Okatie Surgery Center, and was on the Board of Directors for the Hilton Head Medical Center. He was a member of the Sun City Computer Club, Community Theater, Forum Club, Men’s Golf Association, the Travel Club where he served as Treasurer, the Veterans Association, and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a communicant of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church where he was an Extraordinary Minister.

Mr. Ruede is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Angela Ruede; daughters, Lisa Weaver (James) and Katherine Massaroni (Mark); son, Thomas Ruede (Nora); brother, Paul Ruede, Sr. (Arlene); grandchildren, Jamie (Amber), Joseph (Heather), Alexander, Tyler, Grant, Jane, and Thomas; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Coastal Carolina Medical Center ICU and pulmonary department.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 4, 2017 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 31 St. Gregory Drive, Bluffton, SC 29909 with inurnment following in the Resurrection Garden. The family will be receiving friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the mass at the church.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the St. Gregory the Great “Building for our Future” Fund, 31 St. Gregory Drive, Bluffton, SC 29909 (for the future Parish Life Center) or to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Ct., Glen Allen, VA 23060-9979.
