Ernest Martin Stevens



Ernest Martin Stevens, 77, of Hardeeville, SC passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2017 after a senseless act of violence near his home in Hardeeville.

Martin was born in Savannah, GA on May 28, 1940 to the late Fleming Winn Stevens Sr. and Grace Martin Stevens.

Martin is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart, Geraldine Lorraine Punzel Stevens ‘GiGi’; his children, Christopher Todd Stevens (Robin) and Miranda McNair (Mike) and the light of his life – his grandchildren, Abigail Elizabeth Havlin, Harrison Stevens Havlin and Grayson ‘Red’ Havlin; his brother, Fleming Winn Stevens Jr. (Theodora). He was predeceased by his son, Lawrence Frederick ‘Freddie’ Stevens.

Martin was retired from Stone Container of Savannah; a member of the Hardeeville Marine Rescue Squadron; former Chief of the Hardeeville Volunteer Fire Department; member Gold Wing Road Riders Association and Deacon of the Hardeeville First Presbyterian Church.

The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 pm, Sunday, August 13, 2017 until the hour of the service at 3:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church, 11 Randall Street, Hardeeville, SC 29927 with burial to follow at Maye River Cemetery, Bluffton, SC.

Martin’s love for his church and church family was overwhelming. With this thought in mind, the family wishes that, in lieu of flowers, memorials in his name be sent to the First Presbyterian Church, P O Box 1066, Hardeeville, SC 29927.
