Robert C. Wessel of Sun City, South Carolina passed away March 28th after a five year battle with Parkinson’s disease. Bob was born February 20th, 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky. He was a graduate of Bellarmine College, and of the University of Louisville School of Law.

He was a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Kentucky Bar Association. In addition, Bob was a part time Instructor at the University of Cincinnati where he taught accounting.
After raising a family in Cincinnati, Bob retired in 2003 to Sun City with his beloved wife Judy. Bob made numerous friends during his years in Sun City. He was a passionate golfer, loved tennis, and was a dedicated fan of University of Kentucky basketball and the Cincinnati Reds. Bob was an avid reader, and traveled extensively with Judy, his children, and his dearest friends. His favorite activities included sporting events, days by the pool, and the occasional Jimmy Buffet concert. Bob enjoyed a good glass of wine, and was quick to point out that life was too short for cheap beer.
Bob is survived by his wife of 49 years, Judy Wessel of Sun City; children Robert, C. Wessel Jr. of Cincinnati, and Lara Wessel of Savannah; a brother, Jim Wessel of Houston; grandchildren Logan Kilkenny, Ryan Kilkenny, and T.J. Funcik; and great-granddaughter Ava Kilkenny. A celebration of Bob’s life will take place on Saturday, April 1st in the Savannah River Room at the Hidden Cypress in Sun City from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm. Family will celebrate Mass at one of Bob’s most cherished places of worship, St. Isabel Catholic Church, on Sanibel Island, in November. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to one of Bob’s favorite charities, which included Food for the Poor and Agap’e Hospice.
