George Shock, Jr. Obituary

George S. Shock Jr., age 74, of Bluffton, SC, passed away on March 15, 2024, after bravely battling Parkinson's Disease. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, on June 8, 1949, he was the son of the late George S. Shock Sr. and Catherine (Schwilm) Shock.

George was the beloved husband of Lorraine Shock. He is survived by his loving children: Sean Shock, Jamie Shock, Candice Tulangow, and Erik Sorensen; cherished grandchildren: Christiana Shock, China Shock, Ninah Tulangow, Kaitlyn Tulangow, Aleeyah Pozo, Maximilian Shock, Jamie Shock II, and Jax Sorensen; and siblings: Terri Medvetz, Vianne Shope, Larry Shock Sr., Nora Wegener, Mary Williams, Sam Shock, Ed Shock, Rose Langham, and Eileen Shock. George was predeceased by his brother, Tim Shock.

George graduated from St. Joseph Hall Seminary in 1967 and then attended St. Pius X Seminary. During his military service, he pursued his passion for education and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, CO.

George proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, retiring with the rank of Captain after 20 years of dedicated service. His commitment to duty and honor exemplified his character throughout his military career.

George was an avid sports enthusiast who enjoyed playing softball and golf. His competitive spirit and love for the game brought joy to those around him.

In addition to his professional achievements and hobbies, George will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, March 22, at 9:30am at the Lord of Life Lutheran Church, followed by burial at noon at The Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort, SC. A reception will follow the burial.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Disease or to the Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 351 Buckwalter Parkway, Bluffton, SC 29910, in George’s memory.
